Howard embarked on his legal career in 1989, becoming a solicitor and amassing extensive expertise in areas such as criminal law, employment law, family law, and child protection. While he possesses training as a family mediator, he does not currently practice in this field. His primary focus has been child law, a specialisation he has honed for over three decades as a dedicated member of the Children Panel.
With a wealth of experience as a child advocate, Howard has represented numerous parents, children, and young people in both the Family Court and higher judicial settings. He is passionately committed to advocating for the welfare of young people, ensuring they have the best opportunities in life. Howard is also a staunch defender of the rights of marginalized groups, including those facing challenges due to age, social and economic hardship, race, gender, or sexual orientation.
