John Gill

Associate Solicitor

My main reason for wanting to become a Solicitor was to be able to help people.

As a teenager in the school holidays I undertook some work experience at a firm of Solicitors in my home town of Wakefield where I first gained an interest in the law.

I qualified as a Solicitor way back in 1980 and since then I worked for a little over 20 years in a small market town practice in Beverley and then moved to Goole in early 2001. My main areas of work and interest are Probate and Inheritance Tax as well as some Lasting Powers of Attorney and Wills. My particular interest is working on Inheritance Tax calculations when dealing with a substantial taxable estate.

I still have a number of clients in Beverley and the surrounding villages and also in the Hull area and the firm have the use of an office facility in the centre of Beverley for client meetings, at the offices of Malloch Melville Stockbrokers.

Outside of work my main interests are walking, jogging, undertaking a 5k run most weeks, looking after my dog, singing as part of our Worship Band in Church and spending time with my wife, children and two granddaughters.
